RBB Architects Inc in collaboration with Shepley Bulfinch Richardson & Abbott as Design Architect, completed the Genomics Building in January, 2009. The research building concentrates on plant, insect and microbial genomics. Facilities include a 100-seat auditorium, Bioinformatics suite, training center and research laboratories that will used by graduate students, post-doctural and staff researchers. A main lobby with a covered walkway and front atrium also provide social meeting spaces.
The institute will focus on the development of medicinal plants, safer and more nutritious foods, sustainable crops, foods with a prolonged shelf life, and novel bio-based products.
