This planning effort was to develop a phased master plan
for incremental growth in order to minimize the financial
impact. Issues
addressed included orientation, access, circulation,
wayfinding, parking, inpatient and outpatient zoning,
land-use efficiency, appropriate growth, appropriate
densities and functional program conformance. This effort
was in response to community demand, Mayo Clinic
requirements, and the changing climate of healthcare
delivery from acute to ambulatory care. Strategic goals
were considered in conjunction with physical planning
possibilities as both complexity and uniqueness were
addressed.
