The design philosophy of RBB is based upon a
process of open communication that leads to highly developed
aesthetic and functional design. With the participation of all
team members and the client, user needs are specifically
defined and analyzed. Among the most prominent issues are
functional program analyses and site reviews. As ideas
are conceptualized during the design process, they are
realized through three-dimensional models and sketches.
The advent and implementation of new technology have
complemented these methods with three-dimensional computerized
modeling. This offers alternative design solutions and
concepts to be visually shared and explored in a brief time
frame, with the client, as well as the entire team.
Understanding the character of a site or campus evokes the
opportunity to create a unique building design.
Each project is approached
individually and reflects the particular conditions of the
building site and its function. An aesthetically pleasing and
inviting ambiance, relating to both the exterior and interior
of a structure, is responsible for our successful building
designs.
A highly analytical and strategic approach to
planning and space programming is the basis for RBB's master
planning philosophy. The client's input throughout the project
is considered to be at the core of the planning process. The
orderly organization of new and future structures is the most
important element of the master planning process. In order to
achieve flexibility for future growth and change, early
provisions for "land banks" are key to the continued
success of the campus. Capital and operational costs, as well
as environmental awareness also play an early and major role
in the assessment of appropriate planning, design and systems
selection.
RBB's interior design approach ensures
continuity between the exterior design of the building and the
interior architectural design. We strive to create
environments sensitive to the needs of diverse clients. Some
need to stimulate and energize their occupants, while others
might require a soothing and healing approach. The use of
natural light, materials, textures and color are key factors
in achieving a successful interior ambiance.
54 years of planning and design of over 7,000
healthcare facilities form the core of RBB's expertise and
experience. Emphasis on the human component of each design is
of particular concern in the design of healthcare facilities.
RBB is also especially cognizant of the changing patterns in
the domestic and global delivery of healthcare systems. This
awareness is reflected in our planning and design solutions.
RBB has designed numerous University Projects,
which reflect our planning, design creativity and diversity.
We understand the importance of minimal disruption to the
surroundings, scheduling the routines of students, faculty and
other staff while projects are under construction. Throughout
the design process, we lookout at new challenges and
innovative solutions to the rigorous demands of today's
University environment.
RBB has designed over one million square feet of
research, medical and teaching laboratory space. The
uniqueness and complexity of laboratory design are factors
which require additional effort in partnering, developed
standards, commitment to program verification and compliance,
as well as provision for future change.
